Thanks shooter. Glad you've seen the light . As for the next project Morty, I think I'll use the off cut from my hoe handle walking stick to make a replacement handle for a set of secatuers (spelling) for the Old man. He's been at me to fix them for awhile.

That's a damn fine snake whoopin' stick you've made your self! I went to the site you posted and just confirm for a rattan cane. I went to the doc today, and I asked him if it would do any damage to my ankle to walk with a cane. His reply was, "Nah, it's already about as screwed up as you're gonna get it". So, cane it is! The saw bones wants to draw some blood, radiate it, then shoot it back in and scan me to see if the radiation makes to a place that might be infected. My son says it could give me super powers if I get bit by a spider. I told him I hope I don't get dog bit, then my only super power would be the ability to lick my own butt! Anyway, thanks for that site, take care, donv

Making a walking stick is one of those forever learning things, you learn more as you go along...I've only made a few. As long as you are having fun with it & it's functional, who cares what it is made of.

In many countries it is illegal to own one.
Having one on your person is guaranteed to cause a world of grief in that case.
The only exception allowed (usually) is for historic pieces.

And when all is said and done, I've heard they make for lousy weapons.
Me, I plan to use a 4 or 5 foot staff when the time comes for being old. As a walking aid of course. The fact that I practice with them several times per week is purely coincidence

Perhaps, you do make valid points, but, there's one thing to remember; they are cool as hell. Sometimes one needs to remember, it's not how well you play the game, it's how friggin' cool you look playin'.

Ninjutsu (the real and boring kind, not the made up dragon ball kind) and traditional jujutsu.
Most of what we do is unarmed, but bojutsu and kenjutsu are part of the overall curriculum.
Initially we only learn the basic strikes, and no formal kata. That comes later.
Formal weapons training does not begin in earnest until after BB, which is 10 years, give or take.

I really like bojutsu and I practice the basic strikes several times per week.
It is good for my muscles, and it vastly improves my body movement. A long weapon is really unforgiving when your body is not moving in sync with the weapon.
