It wasnt over the top its accurate statement. We can own hand guns (i do) but we cant carry them around with us for protection. Its just not as easy to get your hands on one with out jumping through the many goverment hoops.Quote:

In the early 1900s NYC enacted the "Sullivan Law" which was the toughest gun law in the USA. The gangs of NY and the roaring twenties weren't far behind. In the early 1930s the federal laws controlling full auto weapons went into effect. I said controlling .... I should have said 'regulating'. Those laws never controlled the use and abuse. Witness the 'cocaine cowboys' of Miami in the 1980s. We have plenty of gun laws and good citizens obey them. All the gun laws in the world aren't an effective deterrent to a criminal whose only concern with the law is how to circumvent it with impunity. "When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns" may have become a cliché but it is fact nonetheless.Quote:

Us poor canadians have been brainwashed into thinking guns are the enemy (sorry guys :) ).
An armed, well trained population will not only have the option to fire if necessary, but also put the fear of god into these newcomer street slime causing havoc on our streets.
At some point I believe we as a population are going to start aquiring firearms for protection, legally or not. The youth of today are growing up playing video games where you can murder 100 people a minute, then kill the police who try to stop you.
AFAIC, guns are the future. I mean, how couldn't they be?

Mine looks pretty much the same as yours. I had a "Black Diamond" version, but it was stolen when I was in 'Nam. THe one I have now, I bought in a pawn shop for $100. It had a Cutts on it and was pretty much unused. Somebody had it apart and didn't get it back together right. The pawn shop guy didn't know and thought it was broke. I paid him, and stood in front of him and put it back together, jacked the slide, grinned and walked out. He called me a naughty name on the way out the door. :)
