Thread: Multi-tools

I've been in the market for a new multi-tool for a while and have been looking at this Victorinox: Victorinox Swiss Army SwissTool CS Plus Multi-Tool 4-1/2" Closed - Knifecenter.com

It seems to have good reviews and I've always been more than happy with Victorinox knives. I'm also open to other suggestions, so I'm asking if anyone else uses multi-tools, what are you using and why you like it.

That is a very handy tool.
I have used it for a while, but have usually preferred the Leatherman Charge TI.
Both are excellent products though, and my choice was pretty much based on what suited my current job best.
In my free time, I find my Victorinox Huntsman Lite to be excactly what I need in my pocket

That Leatherman is another one I've been looking at and have heard great things about.

A couple of differences are the knife blade and the one hand operation of the blades on them.
I do like to hone my blades myself, and the leatherman has a knife without serrations, and that is a good thing
The other thing is that the two blades on the TI is single hand operated, which is a plus when needing to cut something real quick.

But as I said, great tools the pair of them.
The ratchet and the pliers are stellar stuff on the Victorinox.
I also really like the small chisel and the reamer on it.

I carry one of these. I need something small but still useful. Also, it's cheap enough to be easily replaced if I accidentally forget it and try to take it into a government building.

I have the same. It never leaves my belt except when I fly. It is a no-no of course.

I carry, not everyday, the Leatherman Surge, a bit heavy & large, but all is there. When it's not on my hip, the Kershaw Blurr (knife) is always in my pocket. When over seas in Europe or in Vietnam , I leave the knife at home & carry a smaller Leatherman omly.

I've carried this Gerber daily for the past 15 years:

I like that the tools lock out in place. I've seen co-workers who use non-locking Leatherman-type tools get injured.
