DwarvenChef,
All of my firearms are single shot
1) Tight-neck 0.308W target rifle ( built on BAT Machine Co action)
2) BSA 12/15 0.22 LR - this is my field/rabbit rifle.
3) Strela 0.22LR three (3) position match rifle for formal target shooting.
4) Single barrel 12 g shotgun - used for both field & clays.
They all shoot superbly, and I do not find any impediment in their being single shot.
Some years ago the Government in the UK made some proposals for regulating firearms that included a concept they called 'firepower' - this was based on a combination of the firearms ability to be rapidly fired & reloaded and also on calibre. Nothing seemed to come of it, but you never know !
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ

Thanked: 884Been down that road and back.
Had a number of rolling blocks in various calibers.
A rolling block pistol that I never shot.
Trapdoor Springfields in 45 and 50.
Hi-Wall Winchesters in various calibers.
A low-wall Winchester
Ballard,
Rem- Hepburn,
Ruger No 1's
Martini-Henry's
Martini Cadets
Various Stephens in 22 cal.
Shiloh Sharps in 45-120
A real Sharps that had been converted to 50-140.
TOO many front loaders to recount here.
Not much left from all of that except a wall hanger or two and this old Harry Pope barreled odd-ball German action in 32-40. It was made to shoot R.E.A.L ( rifling engraved at loading ) bullets. The false muzzle has been lost as has the front palm rest.

I gave my oldest girl an Ithica .22LR single shot lever a number of years ago. Joy to shoot. For singles I like my good ole air rifle. Had a Sheridan rifle in .20 and have a Benjiman sheridan pistol in .177. I have fired more shots out of air guns than any other rifle or pistols.

Thanked: 884It's pretty typical of turn of the century German except for that Pope barrel. Pope didn't do a lot German actions that anyone knows of. He did do at least ONE that we know of. LOL
It's heavy old beast. Never put it on a scale but I'm guessing 14-16lbs. It's pretty solid when you snuggle into that Scheutzen stock and hang that big barrel out there. I need to slug it and see about getting a mold made for it. Then it would need the barrel cut back to make a new false muzzle and a proper palm rest for it to be "right".
Looks pretty neat on a wall though. LOL
One of these days I'll get some better pics of it somewhere besides laying across an old ironing board.Member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, participant SE Asia War Games 1972-1973. The oath I swore has no statute of limitation.

I learned a while back that if I'm shooting a single shot, ammo availablity is less a problem than it is for a repeater. Heck you only get a few shots off instead of 20 I find that rimmed cartriges hold more sway over me than rimless. Rimmed cartriges fall out of the chamber while rimless have to be pulled, can be annoying if a follow up is needed. 7x65 rimmed is a rather nice mid powered round that had some nice long range abilities if I remember correctly
