I'm racing against time. Getting older and slower with reflexes, less ballsy with losing traction, getting married in a few months, plans for kids shortly after, just financed a house... I seriously need to get my butt in gear with the car while I still can!
BTW - When I'm grey, wrinkled and glasses thicker than coke bottles, I'll still blast the Beastie Boys and burn a little rubber in what I assume will be a classic 240sx! I also intend to feel awesome!Backroads... Nature's Race Track

You bet! Actually, following the rules will save me big bucks, since the vehicles are supposed to be kind of stock. Nothing illegal done yet and nothing planned, though I find the rules to be hard to follow at times with so many classes being described. I really need to find someone involved locally to shoot the breeze with.

Thanked: 44I once had a GSX-R 600 that I got up to 180mph...with a state trooper slowly disappearing in my rear view mirror...now I don't have a bike anymore
Oh, to be 20 again!

Wow, 180... I'm not allowed to own two wheels with an engine. I don't have the self control to be safe. I'm not really sure you do either! I'll stick to the standard five wheels.

Thanked: 44That's just it. When I have 115hp between my legs, and you know there's not a thing that can catch you short of a Lamborghini, I become very rebellious... the 'ol red and blue prompts a finger and the throttle

Nice thread,
I've never been much interested in car racing or tuning them, but i did some mc racing when younger. Only provincial level and never got much success. Still vintage cars and motorcycles have been a part of my life since then.
If there is a car i miss it is surely this. My '69 Dodge. Never made any cosmetic changes but of course i had to change better camshaft, twin Holley carbs and exhaust manifolds to make that 440 go little faster. And so it did.
Although i still curse the day i sold it, but to be honest i couldn't afford to drive it with gas prices of today (didn't much afford back then either , it was fast but very thirsty).
Poor pics i just scanned. They are at least 25 years old. My dog back then sitting on the back seat.

Never had the money or knowledge to actually modify any of my cars really, but I owned a rat rod 85 Dodge D150 shortbed. It was primer black with old orange roadrunner wheels, lowered a few inches all around and just a little 318 backed by a 727 transmission. Previous owner was going to turn it into a Lil Red Express. Also owned a 450whp 85 Z28 Camaro. I owned it for 6 months, 4 of those months were glorious. The previous owner built the motor wrong and I eventually snapped 2 pushrods just cruising on the highway, which caused a backfire, which caused the Holley double pumper to blow the valve. I had the carb rebuilt, but the kid that did it jetted it wrong so it ran even worse and way too rich.
My current car is in my avi, and got me hooked on auto-x. Good ol' 1986 Toyota MR2 that was hacked to hell by the previous owner to fit a crappy body kit. I've acquired all the stock parts but only installed the trunk with stock wing and stock sideskirts. Also got some BC Racing coilovers installed recently to make the ride even more murderous and fix the 4x4 stance it had.
