Oh, there have been a few incidents.
As Otto, a couple pretty nasty car crashes, a parachute that didn't want to open at first try and a big industrial gate that tried to squash me.
Luckily the Janitor found me before I was cut in half
At work I got Electrocuted about once a week for a decade or two without much harm, but one of them bit me pretty hard.
At the subsequent brain scan, they claimed to have found a shadow on my brain, and that's my excuse for most anything these days
A couple of times I lost my consience and woke up on the floor after a few minutes.
It's usually the fall that hurts you the most, not the "caramel" as we call getting electrocuted over here.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

I was a union ironworker for 20 years doing structural steel erection and had a few near misses. I've seen the grim reaper take a co-worker up close and personal and there were many that I know of where I wasn't on the scene. Got shot at on one occasion in an argument with a fleeing burglar but a miss is as good as a mile so I don't know that that counts. Sorry to hear of the OP's injuries. I hope you recuperate fully and don't have ongoing pain and disability from the accident.

Again, nothing compared to the OP...
My family has a cabin in Northwest Ontario not far form the CN Rail tracks. So naturally we used to play on and around them all the time. One time my sister, a friend, and I were going for a hike in the woods across the tracks and had to rush to beat a train. I managed to trip and came crashing down with my knee on the first track, landing in agony right in the middle of the tracks. I was about 12 or 13 at the time. Anyway, the pain from landing on the track was so bad I was completely paralyzed. Basically if my sister and friend weren't there to drag me off, I would have been a smear on the tracks.
So in that case my two rescuers were the ones giving the grim reaper the finger.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Bullet that parted my scalp
Stab wound
Baseball bat to the cranium
Helmet split in two and chin strap broke after striking the skid plate on an airplane
500' streamer from an 800' jump refining my packing technique on a round
Sitting in the door during a pilot error event that caused asymmetrical rotation at 240'
Now that I think about it, there is a difference between being in a situation that might have resulted in an early demise, and situations that physically damage us to the point of walking towards the light. I have several of the former and almost none of the latter...I'm blessed.

Out of respect for my buddy Cam who can't be here to tell his countless story's, I'll just recite his last.
He was working as a longshoreman part time to supplement his income. One of those huge cranes that load product into the ships literally snapped and fell to the earth. Seriously. As everyone scattered, everyone had a 90% chance of making it other than the crane operator. He chose incorrectly.
I wasn't surprised when I got the call. I don't think any of us were. He had to be the most unlucky guy ever. Or the most lucky, as the Reaper had tried countless times on than man. RIP Cam!David
