The 50's were all over the place but on average it was around 2% - I guess it was close to being the same as now.

I have no idea if this is a valid site for calculating inflation rates relative to other eras, but I found this site, in which it seems $100 USD in 1954 is equivalent to $859.91 USD today.

What are you trying to figure out MLA? The calculator will just tell you what a dollar at some point in time would be worth today.

Inflation calculated via a basket of goods Jimmy - the facts are the facts - what was in the basket then vs. now and interpretation is another thing altogether.

I know about them statistics; we cut our burglary rate in 1/2 one year in the city; we changed them to read thefts. :beer2:
