Just so happens I'm in the market for a Shotgun
There is always a solution, whether it's already present or if you have to make it.

Thanked: 102I think all of the modern pump action shotguns will do the job. Winchester, Remington and Ithaca all have proven track records and the Mossberg 500 is popular with some folks. It all boils down to a matter of personal preference.
I am probably going to buy a Ithaca M-37 Home Defense Gun because it fits me well out of the box and I like the bottom ejection.
If I should run across a High Standard 1200 at a reasonable price I would jump on it.
Light weight riot shotguns, (I think they are called Tactical Shotguns now) with full blown 00 Buck and heavy slugs kick. I had a heck of a time qualifying small female officers with it, even with the low recoil ammo that is now available.
The little Ithaco M-37 in 20 gauge with 18 1/2 inch barrel and low recoil buckshot might be a solution for smaller folks and the elderly and those like me with bad shoulders. It weighs 6 1/2 lbs. empty and is very fast handling.
Check it out.

Thanks for the tip on the M-37. I have been looking at a few different models but will look harder at that one.
My vietnam carry was a combat Model 12. Actually I had 2 of them, rotating them with the company armorer as required.
I owe that armorer a box of the finest Habanos cigars I can get. He was a serious dedicated soldier always looking out for
