Thanked: 1936Radar Detectors
I had to send mine off the other day and wanted to mention my experience with Valentine Radar Detectors. I've had a Valentine radar detector for about 10 years and have sent it back to the mfg twice now. Cool thing about these detectors is that they will upgrade the software in them, which I have done twice I believe, and repair them as well. Sure, they are a bit more pricy than most, but IMO you really get what you pay for. If I remember history correctly, Mr. Valentine was the Chief Engineer with Escort and basically went out on his own & the rest is history. I will agree that it's the best detector that I have ever owned & that's because of being able to tell the direction of the radar source, number of radar sources, and the tones. Mine has paid for itself more than likely 2-3 times, so I say it was a worthwhile investment. Just recently mine started acting quirky and I sent it in for repair. Now mind you that it's been upgraded a couple times and is close to 10 years old, there was no charge. I ended up paying for overnight shipping back, but it wouldn't have cost me a penny to have a 2x rebuilt detector. Their customer service department is top notch & contacted me a couple of times as well. If you are considering a good detector, consider one from: www.valentine1.com I for one have been nothing but pleased with mine from the first time I opened the box.

I thought those things were obsolete. Many states outlaw them and many newer radars are so fast by the time you get notification they already got you.

Thanked: 1936The key is knowing how to drive with them. If u are by yourself on the highway, they will just let u know when you are caught. Same if you are shot with laser. They are best used when there are cars ahead of you and the officer is using radar, then you will pick him up and have time to ensure you are legal. I think its mostly the northeasrern states that have banned them...not going there any time soon.

Thanked: 3224Never had a problem with radar detectors, never owned one. Their used and possibly possession is illegal in Ontario. On the highway cruise control is my anti radar device, in town I just pay attention to what the limit is. Not fool proof but so far so good.

Thanked: 3224Sweet looking Mustang.
Take a gander at the penalty here if you are going 50 kms, about 30 mph, over the limit Driving the Speed Limit . A few years ago some idiot got nailed east of us for 50 over lost his license for 7 days and had his car impounded for 7 days. Picked his car up and got nailed again west of us for the same thing.

In this neck of the woods speed limits on the interstates are 75 MPH so unless you're gonna drive like a maniac detectors aren't necessary.

Perhaps you can have a AGM-88 HARM on the roof of that Mustang!
That would teach them.
In Sweden it's all Lidar and anything you do to beat them is illegal, except keeping to the speed limit, that's still legal I think.Hur Svenska stålet biter kom låt oss pröfva på.
