    The only welding I can do is stick I dont have any tig or mig equipment. And I am a rank amateur even with the stick. But I am always willing to give things a go!
    I'm with Bruno on it being likely the crack goes deeper than I am comfy with. I dont know if I will draw it out much more than it is now, but it would simply suck if it snapped off during the quench!

    Or during grinding. Or when the owner would accidentally tap the spine to the sink.
    If this is due to drawing out the tang from the blade stock, the crack / fold could be due to hammering too much / too hard on steel that was not hot enough.

    Well if someone came into my shop and wanted to know how much I would charge to weld that, I would be embarrassed to charge anything :<0) Okay maybe 5 bucks.
