    Over here anything imported from outside the EU above €45 including shipping costs is subject to import tax and customs.

    I don't know the rules in Belgium. I've had packages from the US and Japan for several hundreds euros. Most never got looked at. The handful of times they got looked at by customs, I just had to pay the 10 euros administrative fee, which is basically a fee they get for picking up the parcel and looking at it without actually investigating which tax rules should apply.
