I made knife blades from cable a few times back when I had a Blacksmith shop but at the time I was mainly making stuff that looked "rustic" for ladies to use in their kitchens. Also did a lot of fire sets & stuff for the Buck Skinner trade. Trouble was they wanted to do just that, TRADE! I wanted their $$$ not their stuff. I am thinking real hard about setting up a small shop to do just razors & knives. Got to be careful of carpal tunnel as I have been down the surgery road for that & cubital tunnel surgery also. IT HURTS! I am going to get some dragline cable I know of at a old strip mine I know of& try making some razors from that if & when I get a shop with a power hammer.

PR hype! Compare that to that pattern welded razors of today. No where close & even with out etching you can usually see some "pattern" in the stock.
