It seems You are right. I should have let a bit more thickness on the blade. I sanded from the edge a few and it is almost good.

It seems very stark I would like to re-tempering the blade. In this case, once an hour is quite enough? What temperature works for you for tempering?

During the honing process I see if there are any problem: the feeling, lights on the edge, hand shaving..etc.

Thanks, Charlie! This is similar to mine. And if you do a re-tempering, you also need twice an hour or once an hour is quite enough?

I am not sure I understand, after quenching/hardening is finished I will temper at 400 degrees for two hours.

Sorry for my poor english. I meaned if you feel the end result is too hard maybe you should re-tempering the blade. You have been doing this routine, but when you test it.

I admire your language skills, I am an one language speaker.

If I feel it is too hard I will bump the temp up by 25 degrees and re-temper for two more hours. and so on an so on, until I get the blade how I want it.

Setting the first bevel is always hardest, I use diamond stone a lot to get bevel right & then move on to water stones. Use tape on the spine.

You are the only one honing the steel. If you have tempered at 400F for 2 hours, it should be fine.
