For comparison my round post anvil that I heat treated and quenched in water was 3.5 round x 9.25 long, about 26 pounds.

I am leaning toward water hose now, If they can do the jominy end quench on O1, I reckon I can use a water hose on my chunk of metal.
That sound much the safer approach. We do not want to search for a new Zen Master.

Nice chunk of steel, 53 pounds with the base plate sounds rite, and it's got a large enough surface to make a dandy blade smith anvil, just about perfect really. Let use know how it turns out.

Hmmm, I was thinking of running a water hose over the top of the anvil while it's sitting upright, but if you could support it upside down and rig a valve like that to supply continues water to the face it'd probably work very well for an anvil.

No progress yet, maybe this weekend.

If I do it, the chunk will be right side up, with the hose on top.
