    Default Pattern Welded Quenches Negative

Has anyone else noticed that the pattern that you see when you quench 1095/15N20 is the negative of what you see when you etch it? Just a curiosity.

I'll do it. I just had a machinery breakdown (lathe) that I need to fix first. Might be a few days.

Do you wnt a scientific explanation for that phenomenon ? or will we leave it at that

First pattern after HT is due to diffrences in decarburization...second pattern after etchig is due to diffrences in corosion resistance.

You make realy nice blades BTW

    Ovidiucotiga, where's the science?
Please include the relationship between decarburization and carbon resistance as related to light scattering and of course the corresponding chemistry involved in the processes.

    Just kidding
