Pattern Welded Quenches Negative
Has anyone else noticed that the pattern that you see when you quench 1095/15N20 is the negative of what you see when you etch it? Just a curiosity.

First pattern after HT is due to diffrences in decarburization...second pattern after etchig is due to diffrences in corosion resistance.

Please include the relationship between decarburization and carbon resistance as related to light scattering and of course the corresponding chemistry involved in the processes.
