Got side tracked yesterday. I forged both of the razors using channel locks, they are less than ideal, too short and bent. Picked up some 5/8” round bar and watched a couple videos then went about making the ugliest but still functional flat jaw tongs. Sized for 1/4” stock.
Well now to honing, as everything is pinned up. I went to try and set a bevel on the bigger blade and have a thin spot. I must have dipped the blade off the side of the grinder towards the end of the finishing belts. I’ve been trying to break my habit of how I take the razor away from the contact wheel. It doesn’t matter when your hogging off material but when you get down to those last few thousandths, any mistake towards the edge is catastrophic. Hopefully I can fix it, otherwise I’ll have the opportunity to do some destructive testing and see what the grain structure looks like. The thumb notch razor took a beautiful edge. Hopefully that one is good.

Turned out the larger of two’s edge was ok, just needed to hone back a little more, about 1/32” (a little less than 1mm). Probably just caught the edge right towards the end of grinding. Haven’t shaved with it yet but if it’s as good as the one with the thumb notch I’ll be happy. I will rotate these two until Texas then print them and hopefully can get some feed back from the guys who actually know what they’re doing. Only took me a year to get my act together. Thanks to all who helped out along the way, the list is long.
Hope you guys like dinosaurs....

John, those look fantastic.
I love the way you brought the angle of the blade grind along the bottom edge of the tang.
Very cool indeed! Can't wait to see them in Texas.

Hoping to pass them around and see if I can’t have some of you shave with them. Need some pointers on ergonomics and such, see how the edge holds up, etc...
