Recomend me a belt grinder.

Ok, so to go to the other extreme from my previous post. If I was to buy a purpose made grinding machine for razor production, what should I buy? I work in a 7 ft x 5 ft wooden shed, so space is an issue. It needs to be available in the UK (or can be imported). Lets assume for now that price is not an issue (it is but lets pretend for now). Thanks.

well if price isn't an issue, you can really get anything domestic or imported.

I don't have either, but I know that Bader and KMG grinders are good. My next grinder will be either one of those with a VFD and at least 1.5 hp (probably 2hp though for my next).

If I would have the money, I would buy this one:

(sorry, the side is only in german, but the photos speak for themself) I never heard something wrong from this tool. Perhaps some day...

Thanks buddel, That looks a beauty but maybe a little on the large size. On your advice spazola I have also asked this question on BB but I have looked around a fair bit and none of the grinders over here seem to give you access to the contact wheel for hollow grinding. I like the look of this one Coote Belt Grinder although you don't apear to be able to change the contact wheels.

due to the space limit i would think the coote or a grizley with a 8 inch wheel is your best bet
toho you will be slightly restricted to the grind styles with having jsut one wheel size

now if you could mount a KMG verticaly then you might have a nice tight package (our build your own that uses KMG parts as they are for the most part easy to get )

i have a 2x72 kmg and am thinking about building a 3x132 as a 2nd grinder (but i do this for a living )

Thanks, that Grizzly looks good. I have contacted them about shipping costs to the UK. Anyone on here used one? The coote looks even better but as soon as I have to start thinking about pulleys and motors my brain turns to mush.

some time ago. The square shaft can be made to hold a wheel for hollow grinding. I think he could build about anything from the look of it. The shipping costs will be a nasty surprise from the US.

I've spoken to Aly on BB about a modification to one of these 2 Just Left The Workshop with an option to change contact wheel size. Looks like it could be a winner. The cost of getting a grizzly into England made them not such a bargin.

Do you guys know of anyone over here making razors?

As for the link to Don Fogg's site...That's just silly! Why would you need something that big to grind the bottom of a coke can?
