Finally bought a grinder / It arrived!
Yesterday I paid for one of these, with additional 20cm and 10 cm wheels, a dust collector and a load of belts.
Bandschleifer Modell 2-S
This is probably the most money I've ever spent on anything for myself.
Now I just have to wait 6 to 8 weeks. And I can finally make knives more efficiently.
Currently I can forge a couple of knives, and I need several weeks to do the grinding and polishing.Last edited by Bruno; 03-25-2013 at 01:01 PM.

Thanked: 1936Gonna be a long 6-8 weeks! Looks nice Bruno, looks solid. Should make your life a lot easier & what time it does free up...you can be creating more dust or hammering away, sounds like a win-win for sure.

That's the idea. Several people have asked me to make a knife for them, but until now those have always been long term projects, for the simple reason that grinding and polishing currently can take days / weeks. And I much prefer hammering to grinding, and grinding to finishing To me, making scales and handles is like doing the dishes after making and eating a good meal.

Congrats Bruno! From what I understand that's a very nice machine.
As for polishing....I've owned a belt grinder for a while now...still polish pretty much everything by hand. Maybe you'll to better than me. But most of the time I just don't like a finish straight off the belt grinder. (Could just be that my grinding sucks though)

Thanked: 995I'll send you a piece of titanium. Grind on that while your wife watches for the first time. She'll either have you in the psychiatrist's office or you'll be banned to the shop permanently...

Thanked: 2209That is a very nice belt grinder. Lots of versatility and control. You will find it useful for much more than you think. Great choice.
