Thread: Bad idea of the day: Shaving with knives

I have experience with knife sharpening, and razor honing. I also have experience doing it for others. I also have experience shaving with both knives and straights.

In my time I have seen people want shave ready edges put on knives, and knife edges put on razors.

Please re read that last sentence, because I think you should not consider one without considering the other. Simply put, either transformation can be made, but it is wholly at the cost of the intended purpose of the original tool. Further it is no less horrific to see a straight used as a pocket knife than it is to watch someone attempt to prove they can comfortably shave with the knife they actually used as a knife moments before.
