    Default A Great Shaver But.....

Anyone else have one of those razors that is a great shaver, sharp and smooth but just never finds its way into you regular rotation?

I have one, I pulled it out yesterday used it, had a great comfortable shave.

Once again I thought to myself I really need to use this one more.

I have done this every time I shave with this blade and yet I let it sit.

Mine is a Manhattan razor co. 5/8" 1/4 hollow.
    It is just Whisker Whacking

Sometimes the razor doesn't have the "sexy" to it that others do, but the shave reminds you that it is for real. We all have some of these, i go back to my "plain janes" every so often just to remind myself of that.

I have some little guys (4/8) that don't get out enough. They never cease to amaze me.

    Do you know why?
That is what I cannot figure out.
As coachmike said about the "sexy", possibly but I have a Genco that is very plain Jane that I use more than my Bökers' or even a Bergischer Löwe?

Pfries, I guess I just have too many straights to choose from !! , and I tend to go for the 6/8" to 13/16"
Other than that, I make a conscious decision to include razors that I'm comfortable with.

That doesn't really help with your question, does it ?....We're all quirky I guess, and we can afford to have dozens of razors
at our disposal. Not like the era when they were made and you just had the one. I have one razor that I only use with a particular
brush and soap !!....Call me eccentric, but I look forward to that particular combination every 4 or 5 weeks.

Interesting because I go to the opposite direction. I tend to choose razors that I am not comfortable with in the hopes that more frequent use will lead to that comfort.

As to good shavers that are plain Janes, Why not put some them in some sexy lingerie (new scales) to raise their appeal?

I have a Beauty, a Gold Bug spike point. It shaves awesome but I never use it. Reason.... Spike point. Maybe its my lack of experience with one, but that sucker gets me every time. I have troubles with it in my skinny concave neck areas. My smileys take care of those areas a lot easier.

Another razor I rarely use that's an amazing shaver is my old 1820's John Barber stub tail. Its so darn pertty that I like to save that one for when there's a special occasion. I don't know why i do that. Maybe I appreciate its age and beauty more, the less it gets used.

I don't have that many razors, so I figure that if I haven't used one particular one for a year,
then it's time to get rid of it...sell it, give it away, whatever.
