Here's detail of the C-MON HF through Nikon D70, stock lens, and the same razor snapped with my cell phone cam (Nokia 6630), the one with the frame of the loupe...
Bottom of the story, no matter the camera, as long as you know how to use it...

p.s. not really, the D70 kicks ass... :P

Well a neighbor took pity on me and loaned me a camera so I could get aquainted with the various functions. Very interesting stuff, all these little features. Much more involved than the hideous creature I was using before.(BTW Josh.... again, you HAVE been warned)
Anywhooo... here is why I suddenly needed to take a semi-coherent closeup shot:
No, it's not a straight. But a damn fine $3 aquisition if I do say so myself.(and the pic is about a billion times better than my old camera could manage)

That's a good photo then, and an even more interesting Schick. What model is that, I don't reckon I have seen one like that before?

That's a Schick Repeating Razor. It's the forerunner of the injectors. They made three models in the 20's and 30's. This is the second model. Basically the injection mechanism is integrated into the body of the razor.... instead of being a seperate unit like later Injector models.

..actually, they shave OK - I prefer a later injector, but the repeaters are certainly capable of doing the job - a bit more exposure than the later injectors, so take that into account -
-also, due to the geometry of the shave head, you have to hold it 'more perpendicular' than the later injectors.
-be sure and clean out the shaving head, first. Mine had enough whiskers, skin, soap, fingernails and whatall in there to gag a horse.....it certainly gagged me!
-whatever

Yeah, I've been running a string of that super fuzzy dental floss through the head today. I think I got all the schmutz out.... or at least the majority of the stuff.

OK, ScrapyardApe knew this was coming. My evaluation of his old camera is that it isn't worth the space it will occupy in the landfill.
The camera he was talking about was one step down from a cellphone camera--and that's not counting the fact that it didn't have a phone attached to it.
No joke: it was a fixed lens point and shoot with no controls other than playback and delete. No focus, no zoom, no exposure control. I laughed hysterically when I turned it on, then I tossed it in the trash.
Scrapyard, any of the cameras we recommended will be infinitely better than what you were trying to work with. I'm sorry you suffered as you did.
Josh
