Default New to this! Help dating first razor

You guys probably get this all the time from new members. I was given a straight razor as a gift, it was bought from an antique shop, I cleaned it up and was wondering if someone could offer me some help in dating it. I searched around for a bit but can't find exactly what I'm looking for. The stamp says William Bladwort and underneath it says Sheffield, but it looks like something is a little off with the stamp. The s in Sheffiield is smaller than the other letters and the E and the the L look like they weren't fully stamped. Is this common during the process or is someone trying to make a replica? Thanks in advance for the help!

Welcome to SRP, i see no one has replied to post. Your razor was made before 1891 because it hasn't got England stamped on it, sometimes the stamps weren't very deep and that razor looks original to me.
Looks like it should hone up nice. you better send it out to a real honemister, you can find one in the member services under member sales.
Here is a link with A to Z of Razor manufacturers Full A to Z list of Razor Manufacturers & their Dates of Operations but William Bladwort isnt in there, might be helpful for when your RAD kicks in.
you might get more responses if you re-post this in the razor section.
Good to see another Canadian on here, where are you located?
Good Luck with the SR journey.
    Matt

That's the first razor that I've seen that has the tang imprint "upside down"?!?

When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It's difficult only for the others.
It's the same when you are stupid.

Yes, been working in the yard again, came in and saw that, thought my allergies were really hitting me hard...upside down tang, first for me as well....of course to the maker, perhaps it's right side up for him??

Thank you for responding, still figuring out where to properly post everything. I'm from Manitoba, excited to learn more about razors and start my collection!

Obviously the razor was destined for Australia.
