I made my first convert
Yesterday I had my 'going away' party at the company where I spent 9 years of my life.
One of my colleagues had seen the box with wapienicas on my desk and asked me if I could sell him one.
He had read on my blog sometime ago that I shave with straights. After some googling he had become intrigued and wanted to try for himself.
I figure I'll hone up the Wapienicas, sell him one, and then immediately teach him how to shave correctly so that he can actually skip the intense frustration many of us went through in the beginning.
Soon I will have an army of followers and take over the world.
Muwhahahahaha
Or something like that, but without the army and the take-over.

WTG You may wish to direct him to TM or Rob and have him do some stropping exercises.

That's awesome, Bruno. Make sure you lead him here as well.

You betcha.
I'll definitely direct him to Tony for a strop, and to SRP for questions.
I also have to order some more soap from colleen so I'll buy him a couple of samples to try out.
The good thing is that he does not live too far away, so I can teach him to shave.
And if he should bust up his edge by accident, he can always come over to have it repaired.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

That is great. I too had my first convert. He saw my razor and stuff, and asked if he could try. I showed him how to use it, and helped him as he shaved. After finishing up the first words out of his mouth were, "I have to get one of these." So I sent him home with a cheap boar brush and some decent soap. Ordered a TM #3 for him and got my Dovo special 5/8 all honed up for him to borrow, it just needed a touch up really. He came by last week after the strop came in and picked everything up. I also let him borrow Lynn's DVD. Called him yesterday to check in and says things are going well. No major cuts, just a few nicks and the standard raw feeling from all the dead skin being taken off. He is hooked.
Now we just need to get him a good razor for himself, and maybe a better brush.
I am working on getting another guy going as well. I say we amass our forces. You take Europe and Ill take the Americas. We'll meat in Asia and then move on from there.

Thanked: 0He he I already have one convert who has already got a straight and a strop (to be fair I bought it for him for his birthday though) and another who is definately getting one but is a student and can't afford one just at the moment. If my practice razor for honing actually ends up being any good I will let him borrow it until he graduates, at which point the beers are on him for a few weeks.
The first convert is my Girlfriends brother, who ooo'd and aaa'd when his sister gave me my first one, and the second is his best mate. At dinner today GF's father was also considering a swap - not least of which because his wife was beating him up only that morning about the number of mush 3 cartridges that were in the bin and "did he know how much they cost" yada yada.
I have Germany covered.
