Thanked: 0Coulnd't agree more with all the things people say here
I do think that now days people don't appreciate a man with a good skilled at something, how many people now days appreciate a good shoemaker who they can buy all the "crap" made in china ?!
And even take a look at the singers and music, most of the kids now days don't know who Elvis was, Mozart, Bach and so on, but they all know who won last American Idol, don't they? and they don't appreciate how much a one man need to practice to become a singer, they just want the "final show"
I think that using a straight for me, is being more closed to the "real" me, and not the man who use a dispoasable things like cell phones and so on

Participating in an old way is a big part of what I love about str8s. Even beyond the shave itself, it's the challenge of getting and keeping an edge using the old ways. It's all a part of participating in life instead of just rushing past it.
Other passions for old ways...building furniture with old tools and traditional techniques...enjoying old buildings...saddened when they are torn down instead of restored...reading books written from another time to see our world a little differently. Other pleasures in the slow lane...coffee ground fresh by hand, brewed in a French press...meals made at home...food from the garden in the yard...just hangin' out with my wife at home...fixing up that home with my hands...repairing and maintiaining old storm windows instead of replacing with new aluminum combinations...
On the other hand, I love indoor plumbing, my snowblower and I put up with the internet enough to participate in this SR Place. I also have grown accustomed to my paycheck which comes from a high-tech job.
It's nice to have choices.
