This has been stinkin' funny, but I leave in a week. Doesn't anybody have any leads?

Well, since I seem to be the initiator of these shenanigans, I'll see what I can do to get the thread back on track.

A quick search for 'PARIS' over on the ShaveMyFace.com forum yielded the following (it's also a link to take you to the discussion):

And to Paris. I was amazed to discover that nearly all good pharmacies have a good selection of brushes, some Plisson and some Gerson (sic) and a few other makes. I kid you not -- I saw more shaving brushes in my first morning than I did Smart cars. I saw some Plisson 1808 cream and soap in a hugely expensive bowl and that elusive Acqua di Parma cream before settling on Roger and Gallet shave soap in a really lovely bowl with all kinds of room to lather in. Paris really is a mecca for brushes with hundreds (estimated) of vendors. The largest collection was in a pharmacy on rue Duchot. And the displays were very Gallic. Plissons in the flesh have a sort of stylish nonchalance; they have better things to do than lather up on your account, whereas those English brushes stand there like little generals, all brisk and correct: "Just say the word, sir!" Evidence I think that wetshaving is very much back in fashion in some parts of the world.

    and this:

    L’Occitane:
4 rue de Sèvres 75006 (there are many many other shops in Paris)

    Penhaligon’s:
    209 rue St Honoré 75001

Old England (you can find Geo. F Trumper and Floris products on the ground floor):
    12 bd Capucines 75009

Crabtree & Evelyn (I find it odd that C&E has bags with “London” written on them since it is an American society):
Either 177 bd St Germain 75007 or 18 rue Tronchet 75008

The last barber in Paris (he should have Plisson, Taylor, Harris and Proraso):
    8 rue Saint-Claude 75003
Here are some poor pics of maître barbier Alain:

    and this:

    Lest we forget.....Planete-Rasoir in Paris

    this thread looked interesting:

Here are some pictures from Planet Raisor in Paris, found in the 'Shaving Poduct Destinations in Paris' thread:

...that looked like a pretty interesting thread.

Sorry, but that's all I could find so far....if anything else pops up, I'll let you know.

With apologies to all for hijacking this thread, and X, have a good trip and be sure and let us know how it went!

Lou has gallantly taken reponsibility for highjacking the thread, but it takes two to tango, as it were - sorry X, and others. Unfortunately I have little to offer in the way of recompense - Lou's ideas all look excellent and will probably give you a lot to do while in Paris.

However, if you haven't already seen this, here's a link to some antique and flea markets - might be interesting to check out.

And a non-shaving related suggestion (again, you probably already planned this anyway): you have to spend time at Montmartre - the Salvadore Dali exhibition is there, the Sacre Coeur, all the artists who set up in the square etc. Wonderful place.

    Have a great trip X.

Sorry to necropost into this thread, but it is the first day of Spring here, and my thoughts are starting to wander down the happy paths of yesteryear.

So, to dear Lou, wherever you are, this one is for you!
