Sage advice
I'm no sage, a point my close friends will attest to. However, I will give this advice, which I will now stand by.
1. Never give a demonstration shave to a bunch of friends at your birthday party.
With the following corollarys;
i. when hammered
ii. without preparation
iii. without a shower
iv. without stropping
iiv. quickly
With my blood, I can attest to the fact that this is a bad idea.

The more I drink, the less good judgement I have as well.

Last night I was dreaming that I did exactly that. I was doing a shaving demo with the W&B, without even properly looking at the mirror, for some reason I was really messing up the angles and had nicks popping up all over the face. It was horrible

Yikes! Good thing you lived to tell about it, John!
On a more serious note, I'll bet this (unfortunately) reinforced everyone's fear that straight razors are dangerous. Let's all be vigilant about these words of wisdom.

Good Grief!!!!
I don't think I've EVER been THAT hammered!
...what would even compel a person to WANT to do something like that???....amazing...simply amazing...

Lou, seemed like a good idea at the time. As for why, some guys were in my office saying, 'what the hell are these' to some blades I had around. Comments such as, 'you don't actually use these do you?'. So, inebriated, proud of my new hobby and wanting to spread the word, I offered a buddy with a wiry beard that I'd show him how it's done. After all was said and done, he still wants to try it.
Now, to Scott's point, the 6 others, not so much.

I think I should add another axiom to my shaving axioms. The more and the harder you want to shave for the express purpose of impressing others the greater the chance of suffering increasing larger injuries to yourself. (The degree of injuries suffered will be in proportion to the number of onlookers and any degree of impairment)
No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

mmm today seems to be the day for blood letting...
I now have a nice 15mm x 2mm x 1mm divot along the left side of my jaw...
no pain, not as much blood (flow rate low, duration high) as I expected
it IS however the first time a shaving cut has required a band-aid *sigh*
