Question Upstrokes on the neck for first pass...

From the article: After an application of shaving cream, the face is shaved with a straight razor in the direction of the hair growth: downstrokes on the face, upstrokes on the neck.

upstrokes on the neck for the first pass? Does anyone do this? And that is supposed to be with the grain of the hair?

I'm confused...can anyone offer some enlightenment

Take what they said in the article with a very fine grain of salt. There were a number of red flags I saw in that article that made me wonder what kind of expert they were consulting. You'll do much better to stick with advice you get here.

Neck hair grows in all sorts of different directions. This can even vary wildly on the same face.

After reading it I tried up on the neck for the first pass. Seems to work ok for me. Hey it's worth a try, right?
