    Default Shaving in the news

Interesting news story on shaving, although I didn't agree with the "pro's" on everything that was said, for example about using an electric.

Interesting read, but I'll pipe in with another comment about all the electric c$#p. Any professional barber that would take an electric razor to a customers face should be horsewhipped! (and have his liscense revoked...in that order).

For those who are questioning why a barber would use an electric razor, I have two words: Orthodox Jews.

I was Googling around looking for some razor info on the net, and found a site where some Jewish gentleman were discussing getting a shave. It seems that there's somthing in the Old Testament that they interpret as forbidding the use of a razor. But for some modern men, sporting a full beard isn't an option. So they exploit a loophole... scissors are allowed, razors aren't.

Even though an electric shaver is sometimes called an electric "razor," it isn't. The blades don't touch the face, the blade clips the hair against the foil with a shearing motion, like a scissors. So for an Orthodox Jew who wants to be clean-shaven, the electric is the only way to go.

Interesting. Except using an electric razor what crap is that. Wow I would definitely insist on a all razor shave.

Somehow shaving commando style just wouldn't be the same with an electric. I know when I shave, I don't even re-connect my insulin pump until I finish.

I remember in the old days when men were real men and I used to be taken for a haircut with my dad the barbers didn't even have electric razors. They used mechanical clippers. I remember yelling and screaming whenever he brought those things near me. I also remember when electric razors came out and every barber had to have them. They would use the electric to trim the sideburns and the back of the neck where they used to use a straight razor. Being trimmed with a straight was looked down on. As a matter of fact they used to give razor cuts using only the electric to cut your hair, no sissors used and they charged more for that.

And ya know what, I still hate those clippers. When I got into straight shaving the first thing I did was buy a NOS pair of Dorko Clippers and every now and then take em out and look at them and it reminds me of those good old days and my dad and the barber chasing me around his shop until he promised not to use those dang clippers on me!

Did you ever have one of those electric massagers used on your head? I used to go to a barber that used one of those things, talk about being all shook up.
