Well, I assume you would have to reapply after honing, for the obvious reasons.
Guess I'll check it out. Thx

Oh, I am. Probably this weekend. Want to be a traditionalist, but this is the 21st century. So it's okay to mix old and new.
Might try this TuffGlide out, unless anyone has any opposition to it?

Good for the blade, steel. Nothing should be upon a shaving edge but air, IMO. Strop it often. Keep the edge clean. Steel. Nothing else. I do think the tufglide stays with the steel for a very long time. Even the edge. JMO

It's frustrating, but just think now you get to practice your honing skills! Just trying to be positive

As a long haul truck driver I carry only the essential gear I need to straight razor shave on the road. Razors in my leather roll up, strops, brush, and cream. For oiling, I put a folded paper towel into a plastic baggie and saturated it with ordinary baby oil (mineral oil). When I'm done and cleaning up I take out the paper towel, open it one fold, lay the blade across the towel, fold it back over the blade, press the towel against the blade, boom done. Never have had any problems with rust, or anything.

I do something similar. I put a wadded tyvek type of paper towel into a PLASTIC wide mouth mustard jar and then pour food grade mineral oil onto it just short of saturation. I then put another wadded tyvek type of paper towel into the jar on top of the nearly saturated towel. This wicks just a small amount of oil into the upper towel but it is enough to wipe my blades after every shave to leave just a very slight coating of oil.

This is starting to be a pretty neat thread. How about everyone that reads, share their post shave oil or razor storage routine. Some really nice and ingenious concepts here.
Thanks for all that post their ideas.

I fill one of these with Ballistol
Put on liberally then light wipe off
Ballistol is proceeded by air jet into hinge pin area
I then set the razor down open for awhile

Ballistol also do a pen type applicator. Its got what looks like a marker tip felt point. I've been using it for about a year and it is yet to run out. It is refillable too.
