That really depends on what you want. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have always tried to please myself when I was re-working anything. after all your the one that will use it. if it's for resale then it really shouldn't make too much difference. if it's reworked whether original scales or other it's still reworked. Please yourself. but now that's my opinion and opinions are like elbows hope every one has one.
