I don't think it matters what kind of open edge you shave with as long as you can do it in under 20 seconds.

Thanked: 2591You are already behind the curve by a few years, been done with all kinds of tools. We have seen a spoon, knives, Chinese cleaver, scissor, machete. Ron mentioned a chisel. Anything can be made sharp enough to do a single pass but I doubt anything other than a razor can take the type of edge to be good for WTG,XTG, and an ATG pass.

Thanked: 3795Ooooh, a cleaver. I've got one of those and never have shaved with it. It's a nice wide heavy murder weapon type of cleaver that I honed up a few months ago, I'll have to give it a go.

Maybe a chainsaw or something might be an advance on shaving with stuff not designed for shaving. As has been said you won't be treading any new waters using a knife.
