Who has honed a knife then shaved with it?
Just wondering, because I honed my knife to 'near' straight razor quality. Blasphemy i know.
I'm about ready to try this bad boy out!

Thanked: 0I have done it. The edge was too fragile and I ended up having to put a more sensible edge on it after the first thing I had to cut. I sharpened said knife with a DMT 1200 card that was well worn. it shaved very rough but it cut hair.

Thanked: 3795Never did it with a knife but did with a chisel; but that was only because my father-in-law did not believe that my chisels were sharper than his so I had to demonstrate how much sharper they were.

Instead of a sweeping motion he used a chisel motion........ Now that is what I call "MOWING DOWN" whiskers!
Is it over there or over yonder?

The tough part is integrating proper hammer blows...
The easy road is rarely rewarding.

Thanked: 3795I suppose I should clarify that I did not shave my entire face. I just lathered up and did enough of my cheek to prove that it did in fact shave.
It was a 3/4" chisel.
And no, it was not razor sharp, but it was sharp enough to shave well enough to impress my father in law and that rarely happens. Since then I have been allowed to sharpen all of their kitchen knives every year.

That what I meant to say "scything" motion...... The word escaped me for that moment.
I think anyone would be impressed with what you did with that chisel. I know I would be.Is it over there or over yonder?
