Usually the heavier the grind, the more quiet they are. And are typically better suited for a tougher beard, as to a full hollow or extra full hollow. Like saying your shaving two day growth, over a full blown beard. You can shave the two day growth with either grind, but the full blown beard would be better addressed with a wedge, near wedge, or 1/2 hollow, as compared to a full or extra full that offer blades that flex . My dovo is half hollow so typically it is a good happy medium?

Yep.. Your good to go with that grind. But I do enjoy that scraping burnt toast sound,of a extra full hollow as well. Really wakes you up , and alert to the shave at hand[emoji38]

Haha I can imagine. I like my half hollow. Rings nicely to tell me it's cutting cleanly. Get plenty of feedback and we'll it is music to my ear and makes shaving a joy. I have just shaved with a disposable for quickness as I am in a rush took 3 passes at it and hated the finish. Finished with a straight and got a lot closer than my Gillette mk5.... doesn't say much for Gillette. Also have some irritation now.... not best please

Should be. Full hollows are sometimes called "singers" I believe. I know my Revisor full hollow when you do the ole finger pad test to see if it sticks to know if you have a great edge it will "ting" when you release and make that singing sound when cutting too sometimes.

I could be wrong on this terminology however. Others with more knowledge I am sure will chime in.

Fair enough. The only thing I know is that my dovo makes me happy and every shave I have is better than the previous one so that's a win to me

Don't know much about witchazel. I've always used straight alcohol after the cold water rinse. Alcohol is a muti-purpose liquid. after shave and wet your whistle if your dry.
