Hah, I'm not saying they're swine...but it's a situation where you are presenting something that is very valuable to someone who is unable to acknowledge that value. I'd much rather wait until I find someone who is actually interested and motivated enough to follow through and take it up as a permanent part of their lifestyle.

Thanked: 1Gonna make it kind of hard to cook in that state. Anyone seen a 2.5" chefs knife lately? Just sounds like another ignorant law that probably covers 2 or 3 other existing laws...
I also do not try to actively convert people. My Dad even says "Haven't you heard about technology? I just laugh. He doesn't know what he's missing!

You know, it's funny. The first thing people say to me when I tell them that I shave with a str8 razor is, "don't cut your head off!' More than one person has said that to me, including my father.
Society has convinced people that str8 razors are inherently dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. I say, what a shame.

Actually society has instilled people with a fear of anything sharp.
When I was a kid (not all THAT long ago) we loved playing with pocketknives, sticks, rope, trees and such things. I didn't have a single friend who did cut his own fingers at one point or another. Nowadays kids often grow up without any significant scars. A lot of people are soo protective of their children that they grow up to be affraid of anything other than a knife in the kitchen.
I've heard of scouting groups where knives weren't allowed. I mean how stupid is that? I plan on educating my children (when I have any) and then letting them make their own choices (within reason...you don't give a three year old an knife no matter how often you've told him where the sharp end is.) and I think they'll be much less likely to injure themselves.
My dad taught me how to handle knives, axes, parangs (bushwacker type blade) and chainsaws when I was 11-12 years old. You should've seen the faces on some of my friends at that time. They knew their parent would never let them handle anything that "dangerous". But because I was taught the rules of working with such things and (at first) my dad was around to supervise nothing ever happened. And now I have an advantage...I actually know how it feels to work with a sharp kitchen knife (most of my friends can hardly believe how sharp my blades are.).

I've managed to convert 1 person so far, and i made up starter kits for 2 other friends but they have only dipped their toes in at the moment. The majority think I'm crazy and I'm pretty sure they mock me behind my back, but it's no problem as I have think skin and have the benefit of knowing I'm right.

WOW!!! A state worse than the Peoples' Republic of Kalifornia! Who'd 'a' thunk it? I've wondered what might happen if I were caught here with a str8. And not in my back pocket but in my kit, in it's coffin, along with my toothpaste and toothbrush, etc. If it did go as far as a court appearance(Which, around here, is not that farfetched.); I suppose my only defense would be to do a shaving demonstration right there in the courtroom and hope the judge or jury understands that somebody that actually knows how to use a str8 would possess one for the use for which it's intended.
