    Default How has traditional wet-shaving changed your life?

    In addition to now being able to leap tall buildings in a single bound and being able to race speeding trains…and of course save lots of money, I can list the following ways that traditional wet shaving has changed my life:

    1. I am now much more conscious of my grooming (at one time being unshaven was okay);
    2. I now appreciate and am more knowledgeable of the history of various shaving products and techniques in all forms, e.g. DE, SE and SR;
    3. I find my morning shave is similar to morning meditation. It centers my thinking and helps to calm my mind before I enter the world;
    4. I could never have imagined how relaxing it is to go through the ritual of a morning prep and shave;
    5. Being part of a wet-shaving online community has been a bonus.

    How about you? How has wet shaving changed your life?

    Way back I was just a young punk street gang member in NYC carrying a straight in my motorcycle boots ready to dispense street justice to anyone crossing our paths.

    Once I discovered wet shaving and straight shaving I became a law abiding citizen, went to the University, was granted many degrees and became a professional and grew wealthy beyond avarice.

    So now I enjoy coming to SRP to be with "The Little people" but I still carry that razor in my shoe so watch out.

    The transition to Straight Razor shaving was step one in my raising the bar on personal grooming. My latest is growing a handlebar mustache.

    Before I only shaved once a week maybe. Now I shave either every day or every other day. I look better, feel better, and I enjoy my mornings now.

    It's sure fun and meditative, but saving lots of money?!?

    While it may be a small thing, I feel like its a step in the direction of less waste and I find that very satisfying. The fact that I was able to master an old skill by shaving with and maintaining my own razor instills a small sense of personal pride. Getting a really comfortable shave and experiencing the different scents is truly an added bonus.

    One thing I did not anticipate was the bizarre facts I would absorb. It astounds many coworkers.

    It has also made walking into my apartment quite intimidating and no where near child-friendly. It has been dubbed "The Danger Cave"

    I went from having 5 things in the bathroom to taking over half of the bathroom with shaving stuff.
    I use aftershave now and enjoy new scents - never did anything but alcohol before the straight.
    Somehow I can manage to swing any conversation over to one about shaving now.

    And of course, I found an internet forum of the most knowledgeable, helpful, sincere people in the world.

    I think i finally learned how to shave. Strange how it went from something i did because i felt i had to, to something i vastly enjoy now. It almost kills me when i get a bbs shave anymore., because then i know i'm going to have to wait 2 days before i can shave again. My woman laughs at my preoccupation with it. The way i see it at least its a fairly healthy benign hobby.
