Thank you Bob & everyone else.
I heard some noise awhile ago while I was cooking up some sausage, egg & cheese tacos & there were some adults walking through the water in the street & it was just under their kneecaps. I walked out & looked because I was going to get pics of them but by the time I got my camera, it wasn't as deep when they past my house. I took another pic & the fire hydrant is sticking up out of the water about the same amount. If you look closely, you can see it but it is white. It has risen a little more & it started raining again but not as hard as it was earlier. I just hope they're pumping those levees out with some success so that it hopefully doesn't rise anymore. The Brazos River is only a couple miles from my house, maybe 3 miles at the most or it might be less because of how it might curve around but Hwy 59 S, once you get on it & go south. the river is just around 2-2 1/2 miles.
Last time I was in a flood near this bad was when I was living in a mobile home park between around '85-'90. I have a canoe but it isn't here. At the time, my friend & I were canoeing around & tied it off to my back porch. About 4 years later was a huge flood when Lake Livingston Lake Conroe, two huge lakes had so much rain, it was going over the banks so they opened the gates of the dams & the San Jacinto & East San Jacinto Rivers flooded the neighborhood I was living. I remember Governor Ann Richards I think it was, was flying over in a helicopter accessing the damage.

My dog even knows something's wrong. He's been whining a little but I keep telling him God will take care of us. Never underestimate the power of prayer, even though sometimes prayers aren't answered as we wish.
It's 7:50 pm now & I took one more before it gets too dark out. My driveway starts more of an incline where the water is at. I just hope it doesn't get much higher than that.

Thank you Dave. I just hope when the river crests, it doesn't get worse. There are many people on the Nextdoor website who said they are staying & few have left their homes. I haven't been to sleep yet, but I'm getting tired. They were pumping the levees out so I hope they have had some success. We're going to need it. The river will still rise I'm sure. That
s what usually happens unless it didn't rain up river.

Get some rest if you can Brother. This is one of those situations you just have to deal with as it comes.
Those are the worst ones though, as you can't really plan to muchLook sharp and smell nice for the ladies.~~~Benz

Praying that the storm will subside and the recovery will be swift and sure. So are people all over the world doing the same.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Hey Guys. I just found this thread and wanted to update. We just got our electricity back on this morning. Our house is dry, our garage is wet. We are feeling blessed.
Seems like the general condition is improving today as the storm moves East. We've been taking the dirty side of the hurricane for days now. The exception is those areas where they are releasing water from the reservoirs.
We collected half a house full of donations from the neighborhood yesterday for flood victims. We are sorting through it today. If anyone is in need and inside the Loop, let me know -- pm me with your phone number. We are hoping to move most of it out today.
Good news is that I received my first straights on Friday from a couple of members and had a couple of boring days to try out SR shaving, before it got busy. So, Shaving in the Hurricane!!!!
