The only suggestions I can offer agree with others, adequate lighting and a moveable mirror to augment the main mirror you use. I also like the idea of a storage area for brushes and mugs that you can display them with. Good luck, I'll be interested to see pictures as things progress!!

The blades have to go to another room. The new shower will generate a lot of moisture.

Go with LED 5000k lighting. The 5000k lights give a nice white glow. The 2500k are yellow and not to my liking.

Apart from various shaving software (soaps, creams, after-shaves), nothing I have that's shave-related is stored in the bathroom. I have an alcove leading to the bathroom and a closet in the hallway nearby, and all my other shaving stuff (brushes, razors, strops, hones) is stored there. So I would say use the bathroom as a bathroom, and of course feel free to shave there, maybe even hone there if it's to be dedicated to your own use.

Good thinking all though I like a warm/yellow light in the rest of the house a cool/white light in the bathroom is perfect as it's a much brighter light so you can see more. LED saves a lot of pennies too.

You know, you guys all talk about not having any razors in the old den but... why??

I remember heeding that advice before and building the display case with door filled with those mosture eating packets seen in the photo.

But then one day I got an eBay special that was only ever going to be displayed, so I put it out on my display open to the elements. Nothing happened, so I put out another and then another... they’ve never even hinted at corroding.

    What’s all the panic about?

Then you are like me, maybe.
I keep the razor I'm going to use next, in the shave den.
But the bulk of my razors are in another room.
I've kept a razor in the den for weeks, with no problem. But my ventilation is extremely good. But I'll tell you this..if you use toilet bowl cleaners, your creating a gas that is harmful to open steel. ( not chromed, or plated )

Don't ask..!! Just don't take the chance my friend.

I l9ve the idea of shallow shelves put IN the wall, between the studs. Of course the flex/retractable mirror is a great idea. Bet you could make those shelves pertty easy. And with a touch of trim board...

If it is an outside wall and you live in a cold climate the cold coming in will produce condensation on your blades.
