The... duh, duh, da, Den!!
Gents, I have a den of my own! But it’s a dump. Now considering some of you have to share, even a dump would be welcome, I get that, but I’m going to gut mine and start new! What I need, is some ideas specifically with wet shaving in mind. If there are any.
As you can see, it’s not big, 8x10 maybe? I’m for sure taking out the bath and replacing it with a shower.
Anyway - any ideas? I’m all ears. Remember, it’s a small space and I don’t intend on spending too much.David

One of those swing-out mirrors comes in handy for shaving while saving your lower back possible discomfort from bending over the sink. That's about all I've got.

Thanked: 3795I don't like the strops so close to potentially splashed water from the sink. If you cannot move them, you can hang a cover over them.
Oh, and make the shelf over the toilet much bigger, for future acquisitions!Last edited by Utopian; 05-21-2018 at 03:50 PM.

Believe it or not, the strops in the picture are miles away and to date, have never seen a splash oh water. But you bring up a good point. Especially because I was looking at this one dude who had his attached to the side of his sink. It looked pretty cool and it was in my maybe pile. Well it was. Thanks!

I downsized to a very small apartment.
YMMV
An easily viewed and opened shallow storage shelving for shave products could help a lot.
Have a good sturdy surface on which to place and use your mug/scuttle and razor safely. A good bristle-down brush holder is a favorite item in my space.
Looking ahead to cleanup, Have your washcloth and towel at a near distance away from the razors.
For better use of your space, I would suggest concentrating upon proper shave lighting from all angles. The swing out shave mirrors are a good idea, I prefer the scissor type of extendable ones. A dry place to store the razors is always a good idea. Some folks keep them out of the cave to hold the humidity down, some use cigar humidors with driers.
Going back through the "Show me your Shave den" threads can be an eye opener.
Much may be done cheaply by frequenting bargain rooms like Salvation Army, Church Bazaars, and other low markup places for hard and soft goods for the Cave.

While I do shave the back of my neck occasionally, everything below the neckline is off limits, rest assured, gentlemen. I do not count my forearms which serve nicely as infrequent shave-test areas.

Thanked: 4826Two things. First I feel that in any shave den where a shower is involved an exhaust
Fan is paramount. It should be sized with the volume of the room, and vented outside. There are some whisper quiet, high volume fans out there. They no longer need to sound like there is a sea plane about to land in your bathroom. The other thing that I am at some point going to put in my bathroom is a cupboard nestled into the studs. So, very shallow, with a lot of shelves for soaps and brushes and perhaps one area for strops. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!
