Default Shaving with dental floss...er, something

Look at these Arab barbers in these videos. They use some kind of string to pluck hairs off the clients' faces. Anyone know about this?

    From the second video
hi thanks for being curious about dental floss which is actualy cotton thread,i use this to take fine hair from the cheek bones because if i use razor on cheek bones more hair will grow thicker.using threading reduces the hair growth and the hair will become finner.thanks again
I've never heard of that...it would seem to be handy for those hard to get spots

EDIT: the second video really demonstrates it. It is definitely plucking. I wonder how many he can do at once.

Yes mate... its old style hemp or sisal twine like we used to tie parcels with.

They do that to catch the fine fuzz... like peach fuzz... that the razor wont pick up or pushes flat instead of cutting

Its a bit like waxing only with twine wetted with barber spit... not wax

Ive not experienced it myself... but I understand it's worth trying...

Fascinating....I've never heard of that. Apparently the first guy got a great shave from that.

At last !! Something we agree on (positive humour intended)

I cant say I fancy the idea of barber spit up the side of my face either.

Mind you... I used to get regular straight shaves by a chinese lady (20-25yrs i'm guessing) in Melaka (malaysia) while i was living there... she could put her spit on the side of my face if she wanted... although the occasion never presented itself.

haha... not in a serious way anyway

Disagree is probably too strong a word... more like seeing the same issue from two different angles.

Mind you... if everyione saw things the same way... there'd be no need for discussion...
Without discussion... there'd be no learning.

Ive never seen that in person but I think a few weeks ago a similar thing was mentioned at B&B... certainly unusual

Seems to do a good job of the ear and nose hair through... even the spat on string can't do that...

Barber spit on your face or some clown setting fire to the side of your head... the agony of choice!!
