Thanked: 10I Really Enjoy Reading The Shave Of The Day Thread
I find it fascinating seeing all the esoteric (to me) and exotic shave creams and AS and balms. I end up getting absorbed searching them out and reading.
Like today, I noticed Jabon Artasanol Foroafeitado, Se'bum Gold, Ground Havana, SG Customs, and something called: Martin de Candre Fougère??
All I can say is wow! Makes me think of apothecaries and dark age sorcerers and alchemy. And I say, "Man! Where do they get all these cool shaving creams lotions and elixirs?
So I go online and find out where and then think; I really want to try some of these one of these days. They are expensive, but then I think I'm just a broken down old guy; what else do I have to spend my money on besides grandkids???
Well done indeed gents!

Being that I am the keeper of the flame and caretaker of the Shave of the Day and Month, it really makes me happy to see that you are enjoying and benefiting from the posts.
Be careful though....what you mentioned is a bottomless rabbit hole, occupied by many people that are still falling into the abyss.

Thanked: 154Beautiful is important, but when all is said and done, you will always be faithful to a good shaver while a bad one may detter you from ever trying again. Judge with your skin, not your eyes.

Thanked: 1082Check this out https://sharprazorpalace.com/soaps-c...ps-creams.html
An honest review and tiered placement of hundreds of soaps and creams.
As mentioned Martin De Candre is a top tier soap for most, a fair few pennies up front but it lasts for ages so is well worth the investment. At the other end of the cost spectrum but equally efficient is soaps like tabac and arkoLast edited by markbignosekelly; 03-09-2020 at 02:45 PM. Reason: Bloody spell cheek!

Thanked: 10Thanks Mark for finding that thread and sharing it with me. And thank you Obie for your insight. I always defer to those who have the experience and wisdom and I'm not being patronizing I truly believe that the folks with the experience and wisdom make this forum so outstanding. I realize pretty much all my soaps and creams with a few, well two exceptions are in the basement maybe even the sub-basement. But I'm going to bookmark Obie's thread and drill my way through all the comments. There's over 100 pages!!!! so lots of good chewing there.
I'm going to start and make a few purchases from Obie's tier one list and go from there. The problem is as someone mentioned, that one cake, decorative bowl lasts a LONG time. I'm 66, and I'm running out of altitude before I hit the big eject, lever.
Cheers all and have a great week! Enjoy every precious moment because it's all we have!

Thanked: 4828Next time you roll into cow town or Edmonton, check out Kent of Englewood. Also there is a guy in Calgary that does a lot of flea markets and farmers markets, his business is called Calgary Straight Razor shavers, his name is Ralf. He also carries a lot of stuff not stocked at Kent. Both of them have open containers so you can smell the product. Scent is a bit of a personal thing, and I still haven’t figured out how to make it work with online shoppping.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!
