Thanked: 1I'd be really interested to see theat thread on putting a cheap travel kit together.
Some funny posts here.
I've contemplated taking it to the gym, but for me the fun of shaving is the solitude, I use a bathroom that is used for nothing else in our house and just love to take my time. I'm quite self-conscious and wouldn't feel comfortable doing it in my current gym, I'd feel a bit ostentatious.

Thanked: 0Yes, I generally stay away from shaving in public. The handful of times I've had to do it were decent shaves, but people looked at me with the same trepidation as if I was the unabomber. A beard is no big deal, but shave the way the entire world did 80 years ago and whoa WHAT a wierdo you must be...

Sometimes I go down to the gym at work to shave in the locker room. There is this loud mouthed old character who hobbles around on crutches and yells at everybody in the gym, I guess he calls himself encouraging. He makes a pest of himself is what he does. One morning he made his way to the locker room and I was halfway through my shave. I got nervous and thought to myself, "Oh boy! He's gonna get loud, call me a whipper-snapper and make me cut myself." He hobbles by and stares at me all bug-eyed. I held my Wapi to my face and waited motionless for him to walk by. He quickly used the facilities and left quietly. He didn't have a word to say!

Last year I did a str8 razor shave as a demo for my sons boy scout troop. several of the older boys and fathers asked a lot of questions the younger ones seemed like this happened every day.

I simply don't enjoy shaving in public and I wouldn't do it with a straight. I've used DE at the gym in combination with chubby 1 and QED shave stick. It was ok but it was so hot that I couldn't wait to get out. I much prefer the comfort of my own bathroom with variety of soaps and creams, etc. One of the reasons I can't really go to gym in the morning.

My brother buzzed his head last year and I convinced him to shave it down the skin - just for something to do. He agreed and I grabbed one of my straights. A few areas on the head were easy, like going downwards at the back of the head and neck. But it was so round everywhere else, it was like shaving an enormous chin - which is often perceived as the most difficult spot on the face. He also has really thick hair, which didn't help matters, and it was also difficult to form a simple attack plan because the hair on the head grows every which way. So I switched to using a DE and it worked 10x better. Done in no time.
