Thread: Anyone used the honing service from theinvisibleedge

Got my brand new Dovo (faux pearl handle 5/8 carbon steel) back from theinvisibleedge today.

Checked out the edge and it did feel sharper than my Wapi, only fractionally sharper but I could definitely feel a slight difference (I guess it's the extra little bit that takes the skill). Decided to shave without stropping to make sure I didn't turn the edge and just used it exactly as I received it.

Got the best and closest shave so far - still a bit patchy especially along the jawline (where I always have trouble) but really smooth and comfortable on most areas.

I'm very pleased, Steven did a first class job - he's a nice guy that I'm happy to recommend.

I've got to say though that I was surprised at the difference between the Dovo and the Wapi. I think it's due to the Dovo being full hollow and the Wapi being, well, not full hollow. Anyway the feel (and especially the sound) were very different, my first reaction was "ooh, not sure I like this" but by the time I'd finished three passes I was getting more used to it. I'll see how it goes, I think it's probably just a matter of familiarity.
