Thanked: 3I'm out.
It sounds really cool, but I'm just getting into restoration and I love it. I could buy a really expensive razor that I don't think I'd fully appreciate for years, or I could buy all sorts of nice little things to help with restoration. I need a vice, a coping saw, renaissance wax - not to mention $300 buys a lot of wood and blades! Maybe if people deem my stuff worth buying I'll use it to eventually finance a nice custom some day.

I decided to not throw my hat in also, I am a new str8 user and thought some of the old timers should get first crack at something like this. My time will come I am sure, its just not now.

Most of us new to the hobby can't afford such mastery yet, and I agree will likely not even be able to appreciate it for some time to come. Besides, I'd only have to sell it in the divorce that would shortly follow once she found out

Me, I can't justify spending $300 on a razor when I have 5 nice ones already sitting around here. Maybe in a few years when my salary goes up...on the other hand by then my little boy will be more expensive in upkeep as well. So I don't think I'll ever buy one.

Thanked: 1212If I was to spend that kind of money on a "custom razor", I would buy... a custom razor.
The idea of being able to talk with the artist that will craft my razor, discuss my wishes and his ideas how to incorporate them in his design, is at least worth half the price of such a razor.
Joe Chandler is on top of my list.
But luckily for my wallet, I need to further find out what I like in a razor (4/8" to 9/8", Wedge to full hollow, steel alloy,...)

As nice as his razors are they are out of my price range. Let's see school clothes for the kids vs. custom razor hummmmmm. Now that is a hard one.
