Default Who is NOT signing up for a Maestro?

I have thought about it, but decided not to.
Initially I wanted to, but when I learned that the number or razors was limited, I changed my mind.

I don't really really really REALLY want an ATS34 maestro, and I figured I should leave it to someone who does.

And this way I can save some more money to buy restoration equipment, and one day hopefully be able to afford a pattern welded, Wootz or Tamahagane blade.

I'm actually in the same boat as you are. As much as I'd love a Maestro, I'm not dying to have one and there are some other custom makers I would actually prefer. So I decided to leave "my" spot open for others.

Don't think I have seen a a pattern welded, Wootz or Tamahagane blade before...
    Where can you see these?

    for pattern welded:

    For Wootz:

    For Tamahagane:

I have no idea what a Tamahagane razor would cost.

But I hope that -one day- I will have enough razor money to approach a Japanese master smith via a person like So, and have one made for me.
One can always dream, I suppose.

I'd LOVE to have one, but I am not in a position financially to swing it even if selected.

The price looks like it will be a steal for what you get, but I would rather bow out gracefully than take the chance of being selected and have to opt out.

    Maybe some day......

    I'm not trying for it.

At first I thought I would, but then when the final specifications on the razor were released I started thinking about it and realized I really didn't care to have one. I'm sure it'll be great and all, but I'm not into square points at all. The only thing I liked were the scales, but I could make them if I had any olivewood lol. $299 for a Livi is cool, but if you don't want that kind of Livi to begin with, I think it's kind of a waste. Just my opinion. So I'm investing in something else that I'll be happier with.

    Thumbs down

    Me neither.

That's insanely pricey. I'd probably get divorced shortly after.
Call me cheap, but I'd rather find some bargains on flea markets and restore them, then spend that kind of money.
Then again, I'm young, who knows if I'll feel the same way when I'll turn 40 ou 50 y.o.

To all the gents waiting for the Maestro:
    Cheers, mates

When Lynn first wrote about the possibility of a Maestro group buy I was definitely in, but after some more consideration and once the numbers became limited I decided to hold off.

Even if I got chosen for the group buy razor I would probably want another Maestro with my own specs later on so...

Anyway, my decision was definitely made after an impulse buy at Classic shaving. A couple weeks ago I happened to see that Classic shaving had more Maestro regrinds back in stock. I weighed my options: guaranteed regrind now and save for a Maestro custom with my specs later vs. possibly having the chance to buy one of the group buy razors. A couple of mouse clicks later and the money I had set aside for the group buy razor was gone.

I realize the regrinds are not the same as the customs but if they are any indication of Maestro's work, there are going to be thirty extremely happy people soon.
