Mine seemed to be turned off to, for about a day or two. Click once on the username and it should work just like before. For about 48 hours I wasn't able to send a PM to anyone. All I got was their public profile and you can't send a PM from that.
Ofcourse there were about 3 blowups I could have contained much better with the ability to PM, but oh well.

i think in the past there was a 'send pm' link on everybody's profile, which doesn't exist anymore. if you click on person's name by their post you have such link, or alternatively in the User CP there is the send PM option where you type in somebody's username.
it will be nice if we can get again the link in the profile, but if it's too much work we can use the other options.

there isn't a requirement that members list their real names anywyere, so your only option is to ask if somebody knows the username of a person named so and so.
as far as bill ellis, his username is urleebird, however he doesn't appear to come hear anymore, or check his messages.
your best chance is to use the contact information on his website.

I'm not sure that I like the new profile system. As a addon it doesn't seem to be pulling info from the original profile and you cant get to the original any more. I however never had a problem with PMs as I always used the dropdown menu from the name instead of the avatar.

I think that you can message them from the new profile page... there near the top left: "message <username>" right under the "network with <username>"
Be just and fear not.
