I live in a single apt which is real small (student). I always leave my window in there open so its never humid for longer than an hour. But Im still planning to put these items right outside my bathroom (straight blade, strop, brush etc), on my desk. I just started putting my brush there today.

The bathroom is the most closed and humid environment in the house, often with the hot shower running and the window/door closed… perfect for bacteria/mold and other pathogens to thrive. Keeping your brush, strop and razor out of the bathroom helps to prevent other issues such as your razor rusting or your strop absorbing moisture and possibly becoming cupped.

Barber shops of old didn't have this problem because the shop was a large (well… larger than most bathrooms) and relatively well ventilated place (with a door opening to outside the building).

BTW Im just going to clean out my brush now, no barbicide right now. Ive only had this brush for a month or so. Its a Savile Row. The instructions say to use borax but ive seen EM use apple cider vinegar, warm water and dish soap. Can i just do that? I forgot to stop by the market and get the borax which I was thinking about all day
