Thanked: 735HHT and copper wire
OK, so I was getting changed the other day with my freshly honed LeGrelot nearby...
I wanted to test the edge, just one more time, and since I had my shirt off, I thought I'd lop off some chest hairfor a HHT test change of pace....
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS AT HOME!
The hair did not cut at all, as the many many arm hairs that had split so easiliy with this very same edge just minutes before. So, I grab the end of the hair, so as to provide some tension to be able to cleave it off.....no dice, the blade just saws back and forth to no avail...
I then hold up my razor edge to the light (I have developed a sense of my razor's edge by checking the glint off of the very edge of the razor using an incandescent bulb)..the edge was now all bent over and unsightly!
So, the razor went back for a re-fresher hone job to straighten that mess out. Some honing, some stropping and all was well again.
But I can definitely believe now what they say about dry human hair being as tough as copper wire of the same thickness!
I'll stick to the hair on my arm, or what I find in the wife's brush from now on...

You're pulling our leg, right? Are you sure the razor wasn't over honed? Did the scales touch the blade? Your chest hair bent the foil edge of the razor?

I have to think you had this blade overhoned... I always do HHT with chest hairs, and I've never had anything remotely similar happen. Perhaps you need to keep a little Kryptonite in the bathroom when you try this next time

Thanked: 1587Well thank god you didn't end up taking a swing at that hair. You could have ended up giving yourself a triple bypass
I'm putting in a vote for overhoned too. Of all the hair on the body, beard hair is most like chest or pubic hair, and least like arm hair, at least for me. If your chest hair bent the edge over, there's no way it was ever going to shave your face, even wet.

I use chest hair as well. It is all I got. I have never deatroyed a razor with it.

Better not try it with hair from your butt...
