Just bought my very first straight blade!
I paid a lot of money though. It's a Henckels 9/16 Friodur, coming from Manyrazor, a collector in Germany. Looks to be in mint condition as well.
I hope I didn't get ripped off. I don't feel that I have though, given the rarity I've seen of these smaller width Friodurs.
Tell me what you think, gents! And if I did blow more than I should have, feel free to give it to me straight! I can take it.

I am not an expert on these razors, but I would not have paid that much. Don't get me wrong, they are nice razors and it will provide great service for you.

Thanked: 3795If this is your first straight, I'm going to give you some advice you might not like...
Put that razor away and do not touch it for at least a month after you get, and use, at least one other not so nice razor. Your learning to use a straight could involve dropping it, banging it against your faucet, rolling it on the strop, and several other tragic endings. Try to get those tragedies out of your system with a razor that you would not mourn as much as this one.

yep, agreed on the putting it away for now. Manyrazor sells real quality stuff so have no concerns there.I agree also its a bit pricey for a 6/8s. I probably wouldn't have paid for than $150 or so for it but that's the way it goes on Eboy.

I've purchased razors from manyrazor and have always been satisfied. His descriptions and photos are very good, and the razor will actually be shave ready.
The price might be a bit high, but I generally don't pay much attention to smaller blades so I'm not in touch with the market for them. These are excellent razors and should hold an edge for some time.

Glad to hear that Many's 'shave ready' actually means shave ready. I was looking at some 7/8 and 8/8 blades, but that just seems outlandish to me. Is it harder to use a big blade like that? What's better for starting, small blades or large?
