Thanked: 17Encased Tangs.....
Just snagged what appears to be a very nice razor off eBay, with an encased tang. Not sure if it is horn or plastic of some sort (it's not here yet). I just put a pic up in my folder here on SRP, at any rate. It's the "Wilbert" on page two.
Q. Have not seen that many razors about with the tangs encased. Was just wondering if that was a manufacturing fad at some point, or if it was an indicator of higher-end razors? The ones I have seen have commanded a pretty penny online.....
...any insight on encased tangs? Anyone have any?

I thought you weren't buying any more razors Chaaaz....
You gots the bug really bad. If you need to make room for any of your new acquisitions, I'll help you store them ink:
If you can access the gallery, throw a picture of it up there. I have never seen one like you describe.

Thanked: 17I know...I know.....
I actually took a couple I wanted OFF my watch list at the last moment, but THIS one was calling my name! I did put a pic of it up on the second page of my folder, Kyle.....the "Wilbert".
I also just received a beautiful old PUMA-SPECIAL, with a PUMA logo'd faux wood box to go with it, and also a CLAUSS Blue Steel squarepoint. Will be honing them up this weekend. Yay!
*sigh*
I do have it bad!
But I can quit buying razors whenever I want! Really I can....just let me get that one more.....

Chaaz,
You can quit I know it! I had it bad too but I quit, it was hard but I had to do it. Next week will be the last week I buy any more razors, or maybe the week after that, surely by July 4th and after that maybe only a few a week, unless something really nice comes along, or I get a good deal, but after that I'm done, finished, nada, no more than 3 or 4 after that in a two week period, not counting anything over 7/8 or gold washed blade round points of course, with a limit 20 or so by summers end with the exception of a few Dubl Ducs and maybe something nice for my birthday, hey, what a better way to end summer than a few (no more than a dozen) new razors so lets add a few more for Labor day then tht's it (for a while) , honest. it's not hard, really.
If I did it you can too.......maybe <g>.
