Scrap Soaps?
I am an agricultural student at NCSU, currently farming and going to school and working on another farm and nursery part time between school. I have been straight shaving for about 6 months or so now, and the only soap readily available around here is williams. Dont get me wrong, williams seems to be a great soap, but from what I have been reading I have an inkling there are better, borderline heavenly soaps out there. So my question is, does anybody have soap leftovers/scraps or even soaps they dont like that they would like to get rid of? The hay sales this year have been less than stellar, and I cant really spend 10-15 dollars on new soaps only to find out that I do not like them. Alternatley, does anybody know if there are any places offering samples etc? Thanks in advance for any advice

Thanked: 11I too as a poor college student would like to take this one step farther and ask if there are any companies or individuals that hand out free samples for soap, or anything else.
Also does anyone know the quantity of the sample sizes? I wouldn't want to spend 16 bucks only to get enough soap and cream for 1 or 2 shaves.
Thanks for the heads up though. The sample pack is a great suggestionLast edited by canyon289; 01-11-2009 at 07:27 PM.

Thanked: 101Cheap.........Good Soap
I too have just recently tried Williams. Was disappointed. I use Van DerHagen that is sold at WalMart. It is a $1.80? Or something like that. It used to be sold under the Surrey name. It is in a cream and green box. I have found it offers a great shave. I mainly get it at my BX, because there is no tax. Give it a shot it is way better then Williams.

I tried some of the VDH awhile back and it did not react well with my skin for whatever reason. I ended up with cheeks lookin like santa claus, nice and red, and a borderline rash on my neck. I generally do not have terribly sensitive skin, and it may have just been a fluke that time, but since I have just been sticking to williams, but williams can only offer so much.

just got my soaps in the mail, and lets just say, I'll be savin for a full sized order in the future. My girlfriend turned her nose up at a couple, but I was pleased with the "raw" unlathered smell of most every one, with the exception of the leatherneck. I forsee some desert ironwood and oak and moss full sized versions in the near future. Might just start sellin blood

I have recently gotten to try Mama Bear's products from a grab bag that I got earlier in the year and I must say that some of the soaps have great fragrences and some of them jsut do not live up to my expectations. Still I like Williams and Crabtree and Evelyn.
